Response to Dobbs v. Jackson Whole Women’s Health

Austin, TX—This morning the Supreme Court heard arguments in the most critical abortion case since Roe vs. Wade was decided. The Texas Women’s Health Caucus will always defend the constitutional right to choose and access to safe, legal abortions. Today and every day, we will stand side by side with our partners in Mississippi, and across the country, in the fight to protect a person’s right to bodily autonomy.

Our Chairwoman, Rep. Donna Howard, released the following statement:

“Roe vs. Wade enables freedom, liberty, and equality for all Americans. Access to abortion ensures women possess autonomy over their own bodies and enables them to boldy pursue their dreams. Roe propelled women forward and granted them equal participation in society. The right to decide what is best for one’s own destiny is the cornerstone of our Nation’s founding. If the Court fails to affirm a person’s right to choose, and if states are allowed to force a person to remain pregnant against their will, equal status for all Americans will be eroded. The Supreme Court’s decision in this case will determine the very future of our Nation.”
